RENFREW COUNTY SKILLS COMPETITION

Scope of Nail Art  

Purpose of the challenge:

To test the knowledge and skills of each student in aesthetic nail design and to help prepare each student for employment in the industry. 

 Skills and Knowledge to be tested:

Competitors will demonstrate their technical skills and creative ability, as well as their ability to work safely while creating the following: 

** Nail Art Design on a live model (both hands). No airbrushing
 
Judging Criteria:
 
Inspiration, Creativity   20%
(Choice and research behind design) 
           
Degree of Difficulty  40%
(Level of difficulty, intricacy of design, base and top coats,
clean finishing touches and shaping, time management)                                                         
 
Colour Choice  20%
(Complimentary colours, or colour families, blending)
 
Safety  20%
(Clean up and proper handling of tools, protection of clients)
 
Equipment and Materials
 
Supplied by Competitor
  • Professional Clean work attire
  • Tools and supplies necessary for the completion (including proper sanitizing procedures)
  • Nail polish, fake nails (optional) of standard length, polish remover, nails stickers etc.
 
Provided by Committee
  • Table space and chairs for stylist and clients (suggested 3 competitors per school)
