RENFREW COUNTY SKILLS COMPETITION

Scope of Digital Photography  

Purpose of the Competition:

To have students actively involved in taking pictures of “The Options Skills and Trade Fair events” and to evaluate their skills as they apply to today’s world of photography. Students entering into this competition should have the basic knowledge of photography (composition, exposure, focus etc.) and digital workflow (image capturing, transferring, editing and output). 

This contest is limited to 12 individual competitors

** No Communication with teacher advisors or visiting students during the competition. All questions are to be directed to the judges.       

 

Equipment and Materials:

Supplied by Competitor: ·      Submit 2 Mounted and Matted Prints (B/W or Colour) ·Laptop computer (one per competitor) ·Software (Adobe Photoshop Elements or equivalent) ·      U.S.B cables and or docks ·      Digital Camera (SLR or Point and Shoot) ·      Any other camera related equipment ( i.e. flash, batteries etc.)

Supplied by the Committee: USB Memory Sticks to transfer files to computer Printers & ink Card Readers Output Material / photo paper Two 4 x 8 display boards

  Competition Timetable:       

8:00	Registration & Orientation
8:00-8:30	Submit 2 Mounted and Matted Prints (B/W or Colour) of past work for student showcase(not judged)
8:30 – 11:30	Students are to capture at least 25 photos of theOptions Skills and Trade Fair events today on digital camera, then transfer them to a computer.
11:30 – 12:00	Lunch Break
12:00 -1:00	Submit one 8 x10 Colour Professional Print The image must be processed - colour corrected, retouched, etc. and output in colour on an inkjet printer.
1:00 – 2:00	Submit one 8 x10 B/W Professional Print taken from your contact sheet. The image must be processed and output in B/W on an inkjet printer
2:00	Judging & Competitor clean-up
2:30	Awards Ceremony
