Construction - Carpentry
The Construction - Carpentry SHSM program is an innovative program that is for students who are interested in preparing for occupations in the Construction area. This is for students for all post-secondary destinations.
Construction - Electrical
The Construction - Electrical SHSM program is a dual credit program that is team taught with a teacher from Mohawk College. Students will get Mohawk College credits plus high school credits. This will prepare students for all post-secondary destinations. Construction - HVAC - Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning
The HVAC Program is an innovative program allowing students to experience the opportunities available in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning. It will give these students a hands on approach to learning and look at a rewarding career in this field.
this program will be good for students who would like to pursue a career in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning, or who would like the opportunity to work with Gas fitting and have an introduction to the working conditions in the HVAC field.
Students Will:
Be exposed to opportunities dealing with residential and commercial furnaces, air conditioners and ventilations systems. They will be introduced to gas fitting. They will also have the opportunity to learn about the following trades:
- Mechanical Engineers
- Air Conditioning, Refrigeration & Ventilation Technician
- Heat, Ventilation & Air Conditioning Installer
- HVAC sales positions, Building Automation, Pipefitters

Construction HVAC - TCH 3EB, TCH 4EB, TCH 4EU, BDI 3C1, SPH 4C1, BMI 3C, BOH 4M1
Grade 11: TCH3EB- a two credit grade 11 HVAC
1 credit in : BDI3C1, BMI3C1, BAF3M1, SVN3E1, SVN3M1, SBI3C1, SCH3U1, or SPH3U1,
Grade 12: TCH4EB-a two credit Grade 12 HVAC
1 credit in : BAF4M1,BBB4M1, BOH4M1,BOG 4E1, SBI4UI, SCH4C1, SCH4U1,SPH4C1 or SPH4U1
2 Co-operative Education credits.

- Fabricate a variety of structures
- Experience the design or construction environment through work placements
- Relate their studies in core subject areas to chosen interest area
- Graduate with a SHSM seal of designation on your secondary school diploma
- Earn a Specialist High Skills Major designation on OSSD transcript
- Gain valuable industry specific work experience and knowledge
What can I do to prepare?
- Plan accordingly: take the Grade 9 and Grade 10 courses that will lead into this SHSM.
- Attend a Parent/Student School to Career Information Evening. See your guidance department for dates.
- Visit your guidance counsellor at your home school for further information.
- Complete the application process found on schooltocareer.ca
When can I get started?
- This is a limited enrollment.
- Apply in your Grade 10 year.
- To register, log onto onsorts.ca using your OEN number and birth date. OEN numbers can be found on report cards, student cards, credit counselling summaries.
