Learning About Arts…Through The Arts

Arts education helps our young people build their confidence, express their individuality, creativity and improve how well they learn other school subjects. Studies show that students, who participate in the Arts, develop math, literacy and writing skills with increased proficiency.

What can I do to prepare?

  • Plan accordingly: take the Grade 9 and Grade 10 Arts courses that will lead into this SHSM and act as your prerequisite to senior Music and Drama and Dance courses.
  • Attend a Parent/Student School to Career Information Evening. See your guidance department for dates.
  • Visit your guidance counsellor at your home school for further information.

When can I get started?

  • This is a limited enrollment program
  • Apply in your Grade 10 year.
  • To register, log onto www.onsorts.ca using your OEN number and birth date. OEN numbers can be found on report cards, student cards, credit counselling summaries. Interested students will receive an electronic message with an interview time. Complete the assignment package to the interview.
