Program Description
Carpenter, cabinet maker concentrated OYAP is a program specifically designed to help students make a smooth successful transition from high school directly into their post-secondary education general carpenter, cabinetmaker apprenticeship. The program consists of residential framing, rafter layout, blueprint reading, safe use of stationary and portable equipment, interior finishing and trim. The cabinetmaker course also offers CAD, CNC router table training and cabinet construction.
Similar Apprenticeship preparation certificate programs are also offered at local community colleges, and private technical training centres. They can cost between $2,500 and $6,000 at these other sites. Students can now receive their level 1 Carpentry (first apprenticeship course) by taking either the Carpentry program at MM Robinson or at Georgetown District.
These programs are good for males and females. Have a look at this article about women in construction!
