Girls can change the world with technology

'Hey girls. Want to make a difference in the world? Then you should consider learning some computer programming or give engineering a try. It’s empowering because it allows you to turn your ideas into reality and share them with the whole world. Just look how Facebook founder, Mark Zuckerberg, has changed the way we talk to our friends every day. He did that with code.

Girls Learning Code, a new week-long March break camp announced today will help girls make a difference in the world by teaching them computer code. A group of women in their twenties who started Ladies Learning Code (LLC) came up with the idea for the camp because they didn’t realize the power of computer programming until after they finished their formal education. By teaching hands-on coding skills, LLC wants to encourage girls to start thinking of programming as a fun and creative career option before they start choosing their electives...'

Over the summer months many NEW employers have signed on to the Employer Registry to offer a wide range of experiential learning opportunities for students in the GTA; educators can search for student opportunities by registering on EmployerRegistry.ca.     

For GTA students there are nearly 2 000 employers and 3 000 opportunities listed on EmployerRegistry.ca.
