Work-integrated Learning (WIL)

'How can employers access the skills and talent they need? How can college and university students better combine their in-class learning with "real world" experience to help them get a job after graduation.

Co-ops, internships, work placements and apprenticeships, all known as Work-integrated learning (WIL), are becoming standard practice in today's colleges and universities. Employers and students increasingly view WIL as an important part of the student experience helping prepare students to enter the labour market with relevant, transferable and marketable skills. It also allows students to develop contacts in their chosen fields while improving their employment prospects. Employers, gain access to highly motivated and creative students which improves their productivity. WIL helps bridge the transition from post-secondary education to the labour market...'

Over the summer months many NEW employers have signed on to the Employer Registry to offer a wide range of experiential learning opportunities for students in the GTA; educators can search for student opportunities by registering on EmployerRegistry.ca.     

For GTA students there are nearly 2 000 employers and 3 000 opportunities listed on EmployerRegistry.ca.
